✺ about ✺

There’s something special about shaping mud into functional art for our homes. This process dates back millennia and connects us to our earliest human traditions. This history fills me with respect and curiosity for the material of clay and the process of transforming clay into usable art objects.

Welcome!

I’m AM DeBrincat (she/her), a Brooklyn-based artist making joyful ceramics for a complicated world. I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, went to college in Eugene, Oregon and Sevilla, Spain, and earned my MFA from Parsons the New School for Design in New York City. I happily worked as a professional painter for many years (paintings here & cv here) before falling head-over-heels for the sensuality and playfulness of clay.

I have a passion for adventure, learning, and the ongoing project of embracing life to the fullest. I embed my love and joy into each piece of ceramics I create. I hope as my work travels out into the world, my joie de vivre will radiate from my work and make others feel joyful too.

I’m proud to be a part of the amazing community that exists here in New York City. A portion of all sales are donated to the Ali Forney Center, a NYC-based non-profit whose mission is to protect homeless LGBTQ+ youth from the harms of homelessness and empower them with the tools needed to be independent and to thrive.

I live in Brooklyn with my beloved family and our two cats, Monkey & Bug.

❊ My mission is to bring joy to others by creating beautiful, useful objects for the home. In a dark, scary world, beauty and joy can feel like rebellion and healing. ❊
